1952 Marilyn Monroe Life Magazine Cover
The subject of this rare Life Magazine cover was model, actress and singer Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson). It was the first time she appeared on a Life Magazine cover, which makes this item so collectible. She was famous for playing comic “dumb blonde” characters, and became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950’s. She died at the age of 36 in 1962.
“While the legend of Marilyn Monroe will always be closely associated with LIFE – her first cover shoot for the magazine, in April 1952, made by the great Philippe Halsman, remains one of the most famous and collectible covers in the history of the magazine” – Time (http://time.com/3880752/marilyn-monroe-life-magazine-covers-photos/).
